We have spent the week catching up on everything we didn't get to in September.
Dentists/dental surgeon, orthodontists, doctors, laundry, haircuts, switching to winter clothes, making phone calls, paying bills, reading Herodotus, Ulysses and the Odyssey, sleeping, weeding & moving plants in for winter, a trip to the ROM, chemistry, vocabulary lists, Algebra II , cleaning out the fridge, figuring out where the dead thing under the dryer was hidden, making pies for Thanksgiving, getting the invisible fence repaired, a trip to the zoo and a very pleasant hike in the woods.
The best job of all, perhaps, is that the crooked front wheel on the running stroller now rolls straight. It was veering off to the right, making running more of an upper body workout than one would want.
Today is Thanksgiving at our house with Becky, Jay and Brenna.
Last night we had the Hoffmans over and during their visit, our well went dry, the oven's computer fritzed out, and when I went to get the 42 pieces of chicken off the grill, the leg of the Weber fell right off and all our dinner landed in dirt and was covered by charcoal and ashes.
Jon and Kirk went to Sobey's and found some food for us.
It was such a funny evening. And we had fun.
But I'm waiting for the water truck to fill the well now, so we can wash last night's dishes, and then prepare tonight's feast. We'll be fine as long as the oven behaves while the turkey cooks.
No books will be read in my house today! But my aim is to get a nice long run in late in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, we read.
Oh, Jess, if you're out there......Audrey picked up Eats, Shoots and Leaves from the library this morning. She'll have it for you tomorrow. She's a great assistant!

This girl is a math whiz, she finished that book in half the time it should have taken.
It's something from her father's side.
